We've also provided some lesson plans and activity suggestions so that you can learn too!  Continue...
Fighter Planes: The Sound of Freedom Print E-mail

We are staying at a beautiful resort-like campground in Virginia Beach, VA that is about a mile from the ocean.  There are large concrete pull-through sites with big concrete patios and fire pits.  4 playgrounds, 4 in-ground swimming pools (that aren't open yet, but look nice), a putt-putt golf course and more.  What we didn't expect was that every day we would have fighter jets screaming overhead practicing their take-offs and landings and other maneuvers at Navy Oceana.  Surprise!  They pass overhead at about 100 feet inbound to land and the sound is deafening.  You cannot hear anything else.  On the bright side, they are really cool to look at.

So now, whenever we hear them coming, I usually ask my boys, "What is that noise?" to which they've learned to reply, "That's the sound of Freedom!"
