Pick Your Own Organic Produce in Seattle Print E-mail

south47.gifBlueberries in Washington are FABULOUS!  So are the blackberries, the raspberries, and the apples.  There’s a rumor that they’re even better if you pick them yourself.  We visited the South 47 Farm to test that theory.

Picking fresh produce at the South 47 Farm was one of our best days in Seattle.  The farm is very conveniently located near the city and provides an opportunity to dig your own potatoes, harvest vegetables, and pick fresh berries and apples.  They provide the baskets, the berry cartons, the shovels and knives and everything else you’ll need to gather all the produce you’d like.  It’s grown organically and the people that run the farm are incredibly warm.  They know how to make sure their customers have a good experience.

At the South 47 Farm there’s a pole bean maze for small children and a corn maze for all ages in October.  They have art and nature activities based on different themes, from bugs to flowers to seeds.  There are wagon rides around the farm, a petting zoo, and a cutting garden to gather your own fresh bouquet.  If all of that sounds like too much work, just visit the farm stand.  They have fresh picked fruits and veggies available anytime.

In the end, according to our research, fresh picked Honeycrisp apples do indeed taste better than anything we’ve gotten in the grocery store.  And the raspberries…WOW!  Don’t miss the raspberries! (Pictures in the gallery)
