History Trippin'

Adventrue In March of 2008 our family of four (plus 1 dog) hit the road for a yearlong tour of the United States focusing on American History. This website is our journal from start to finish. Here we have passed along how we homeschooled on the road and specifically what we learned about American history. We've also provided some lesson plans and activity suggestions so that you can learn too!  Continue...

Life On The Road - Living

childpray.jpgTuesday is Griffin’s Re-Birthday…time to party!  Cake, ice cream, gifts…  Two years ago we celebrated with our entire “life group” family when our oldest son was saved and last year I had the unforgettable privilege of listening to our youngest son pray to accept Jesus.  Those are, without a doubt, the biggest days of their lives and I didn’t want them to pass without recognition.   To mark them, we came up with the idea of celebrating their Re-Birthdays.

Honor Firefighters Sept 11th
Roadschooling - Learning Ideas
Saturday, 06 September 2008

sept11b.jpgEvery year since September 11, 2001 my family has taken homemade cookies to our local firefighters.  It’s our way of saying, “We appreciate you.”  I see it as an opportunity for us to teach our children about the terrorist attacks, about the importance of saying Thank you, and about the American spirit.  Some years we tour the station and sometimes we just drop off our homemade cookies and cards.  It’s become a tradition for us.

Last year our homeschool support group participated with us and we delivered cookies to stations in three different Memphis suburbs.  This year we’d like to invite all of you to join us.  On September 11th, this year and every year from now on, make a plate of your favorite cookies with your children then deliver them to the fire station nearest your home.  Let them know that we haven’t forgotten the bravery and the sacrifice of their fellow firefighters in New York.  We’ll never forget.
